The Uffizi Galleries say an X-ray exam of a portrait by Artemisia Gentileschi have discovered a hidden painting by the Baroque master. Examination done by a Florence restoration laboratory revealed another portrait, depicting St. Catherine of Alexandria, that is “virtually identical” to a painting recently acquired by London’s National Gallery.
