While the temperatures are hardly spring-like, the bi-annual feeding frenzy, Local Restaurant Week, is almost upon us. This year’s spring edition is served up from April 16 through the 22nd.
Here’s the dish:

  • Our version of Local Restaurant Week shines a spotlight solely on the local independent neighborhood eateries all over the region.
  • WNY's "Local Restaurant Week" is one of the largest "restaurant week" concepts in the country.  “We are in the Top 5, in good company with cities much larger than our including NYC, Chicago, LA and Washington DC,” noted Christa Hobart, LRW organizer.
  • Of the 200-plus expected to take part, 22 restaurants are participating for the first time.
  • "Who's on your Restaurant Bucket List?" is the theme this spring

With dining features (breakfast, lunch, dinner) priced at $20.18 (get it, like the year?), $30.18 and/or $40.18, folks have a tasty reason to skip the national chains and give the independents a try.

This week is the ideal time to break out of the routine, experience different cuisines, and try that new place you’ve had your eye on.

It all adds up to big revenue for local restaurants, employees and other businesses. Because home grown restaurants tend to support local vendors, the additional money spent by diners during Local Restaurant Week makes a significant impact throughout the industry.

According to organizers, the two annual Local Restaurant Week events contribute an estimated $8 million to the regional economy.
