Festival Season Kicks Off With a Greek Flavor

Opa!

The traditional Greek greeting that means “hooray” is an apt term for the beginning of the rich festival season in our region.  The 43rd annual Buffalo Greek Fest is slated for this Friday through Sunday at the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, corner of Delaware and W. Utica in Buffalo.

Earlier today, Lou St. James, Festival spokesman, made his annual appearance on Beach & Co. on WBEN. Lou, Sandy, and I had the pleasure of talking all things Greek, including the entertainment, culture and, of course, the food, with a special emphasis on the Loukoumades (honey balls), those addicting, light fried dough balls dipped in honey and sprinkled with cinnamon.
