TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WBEN) - Tonawanda Police identified the woman who was shot and killed in a triple shooting at 111 Ebling Avenue as 31-year-old Danielle Cretacci.

Her two children, ages 8 and 11, were both shot and are in stable condition.

Authorities said the shooting happened at 2 a.m. at 111 Ebling Avenue in the Town of Tonawanda on Tuesday. They are still looking for the suspect and, potentially, the weapon used in the shooting.

"(The community) should be at ease and be calm because we do believe that this was not a random event that took place," Interim Tonawanda Police Chief Jim Stauffiger said.

In a visit to the neighborhood on Wednesday, multiple neighbors told us that they're not overly concerned about their safety in the wake of the triple shooting but said they were "shocked" to hear what happened in their normally quiet community.

"We'd never expect anything," Amy Pickwell told WBEN. "I've walked past that house countless times and never would be thinking. I'd just be walking along."

Despite being close to the home, Pickwell said she never heard any commotion that night but followed the news in the morning.

Stauffiger said they believe the suspect or suspects fled the area and Amherst Police assisted with the use of K-9 units.

"Clearly the suspects fled the area," Stauffiger said. "...Nothing to my knowledge was found in regard to that track."

Stauffiger said he was speaking in general terms when he said "suspects".

Police did not release the name of the victims because they have been unable to contact other family members and because of the age of the two children. Stauffiger did not release the ages of the victims but said the two children were under the age of 16.

The home is a single-family home and Stauffiger said that the three victims lived there with the homeowner. Stauffiger said he does not believe the homeowner and the people living there were related or if there was a relationship between the two. Stauffiger would not say if the homeowner was a suspect.

Authorities were contacted by one of the children in the shooting.
