Higgins calls for congressional oversight; Collins wants end to "witch-hunt"

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Area congressional representatives reacted following Attorney General William Barr's summary of the Mueller probe over the weekend.

"Congress has a very clear constitutional obligation and that is oversight," Higgins said. "There are at least three investigatory committees and they should fully examine this report, which is the culmination of a two-year investigation."

The Mueller probe found no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia but it did not conclude that Trump did or did not commit obstruction of justice, according to Barr's summary.

Higgins said the investigation resulted in more than 100 criminal indictments of people associated with the president and that the $20 million investigation paid for itself using asset forfeitures. Higgins joined the chorus of republicans and democrats who called for the release of the entire report and said that attorney general has an obligation to release it.
