Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Western New York was abuzz with a lot of weather grumbling Monday as the afternoon commute more resembled January than April.  Slushy snow accumulated on roadways and the snow could be measured in inches on the ground across the region.

More snow is in the forecast for Tuesday, however any significant accumulation should be confined to the higher terrain areas to the south and east of the Buffalo metro area.

A brief peak at the sun is in the offing for midweek before conditions deteriorate again before the weekend.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Snow. Total daytime accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected. The greatest accumulations will be across the higher terrain, and on grassy or elevated surfaces.

* WHERE...Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions across the higher terrain. Also expect greatly reduced visibilities at times.

While some clearing and moderating temperatures are expected this weekend, forecasters caution that any warming to normal or above normal is confined to the long term forecast beyond the weekend. Saturday's high is forecast at about 42 degrees and Sunday's at 48 degrees.
