BUFFALO (WBEN) - Western New Yorkers came out by the hundreds to support local staple Paula's Donuts on their first day of reopening on Thursday morning.

I arrived to the Paula's location on Sheridan Dr. around 10:20 a.m., and the line was still obscene - but not as crazy as it was earlier in the morning.

"It was actually longer before - it was all the way down to the car wash, and now it's about 40 minutes long - down to the end of the plaza," said employee Nolan Stockman, who added that they're taking all necessary safety precautions for workers and customers. "All the employees are wearing masks; we're getting our temperature taken every day when we come in; we're filling out wellness logs when we come in, and we're also sanitizing the store every hour on the hour, making sure that we're all taking turns doing that so that everybody knows the protocol."

Stockman also discussed what it means to receive this kind of support from the community on the first day of reopening.

"We're the best community in the world, and we love our food."
