BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - State, city, and community leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a $2.4 million farmhouse and community food training center in Buffalo.

The farmhouse, located on Massachusetts Avenue on Buffalo's West Side, will serve as a hub for the local community to access food and agriculture-based education and resources, create new markets for local growers, and increase food access for people.

"We have been dreaming about this farmhouse and community-food training center for over a decade," Diane Picard, MAPs Executive Director, said. "A place that is built to support our work. To build a city where everyone has access to fresh, affordable food, where young people have job opportunities and meaningful work to understand food systems and climate justice issues."

The farmhouse will be used for cooking classes, nutrition education, and food prep training. It will also support local growers with a cold and dry storage area.
