Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Less than 48 hours after his name was announced by Buffalo Sabres General Manager Jason Botteril as the 1st overall pick in the NHL Draft, Rasmus Dahlin was seen on his Instagram account wearing a Buffalo Bills hat and looking down on the Buffalo skyline as he arrives in his new hockey home.

Dahlin will be busy Monday as he is welcomed to Buffalo with a press conference scheduled by the Buffalo Sabres and the newest Sabre will be LIVE in the WBEN studios bright an early Monday morning as well.

Dahlin joins top center Jack Eichel as the faces of Buffalo's rebuild after missing the playoffs each of the past seven seasons. Botterill said earlier in the day it's "a great day for our organization," a day that was coming since the Sabres won the draft lottery in April for the opportunity to make Dahlin the first pick.

It was such a foregone conclusion that Dahlin wore a Buffalo Bills hat on Friday, and when arena workers were testing the video board with his name in the first overall spot, it could have remained up there.

Dahlin should spark the rebuilding process for Buffalo, which has missed the playoffs in each of the past seven seasons. The smooth-skating playmaker was considered the consensus first pick for more than a year.

"It's been a long waiting," Dahlin said. "You can't really plan anything. Finally today I can plan my future. I love to call my new town Buffalo."
