Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Did you see all those "open" signs light up this morning as Western New York was cleared to enter phase two of reopening from a coronavirus quarantine closure?

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made it official during his daily update Tuesday, saying, "Buffalo enters phase two today, western New York."

Shortly after, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, who leads the regional group charged with the reopening phases, followed suit

Hospitalizations and deaths related to COVID-19 have been on a steady decline across the region, allowing the next phase to be entered.

The phase two 'green light' is good news for many offices, service professions and retailers who have been shuttered for months.

The region will remain in phase two for at least two weeks before being reassessed and cleared to enter phase three.  There are four phases in total in the reopening process.
