According to Business First, West Seneca officials have granted site-plan approval for a Royal’s Car Wash at the corner of Transit Road and Clinton Street, currently the site of a Lucky’s Family Restaurant.  Lucky’s will remain open until the property is sold and construction begins.  Royal Car Wash already has a location operating on Transit Road in Lancaster.

London-based Ferroglobe PLC announced it's closing its Niagara Falls operation as of December 30th.  Business First notes the plant, operating as part of Globe Specialty Metals Inc., employs about 100 people.

U.S. consumer confidence tumbled this month to its lowest level since July.  There are plenty of forces at work - while the U.S. economy is healthy and unemployment is the lowest in nearly five decades, the Federal Reserve has gradually been raising interest rates, financial markets have been volatile and global growth is slowing.

Univera Healthcare and its corporate parent are seeking a total of about 90 college student interns for Summer 2019 positions at locations in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Utica.  The 10-week paid internships are offered through the health insurer's Diversity & Inclusion Summer College Internship Program, and run from June to August 2019.  You can find details online at UniveraHealthcare.com/Careers.
