New York (WBEN/WCBS) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo sprang into action to save a life on Monday when his motorcade passed a wreck on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

The Democrat, who was heading from an event in Manhattan, was seen on video taken by his staff climbing to the door of an overturned truck and lifting a driver to safety.

The vehicle, believed to be a delivery truck, was resting on its side and the driver had to be cut from his seatbelt, according to a member of Cuomo's staff.

The man appeared to be relatively uninjured and can be seen walking with the support of emergency personnel down from the truck.

Cuomo, dressed in a suit and tie, assists the man down by bracing his leg and arm.

Several members of the governor’s police detail can also be seen in the rescue.

It’s unknown if anyone else was injured in the crash.
