TOWN OF CONCORD, N.Y. (WBEN) - Two people were arrested on Thursday for drug possession by the Erie County Sheriff's Office.

John Harrigan, 28, and Brandi Schoonmaker, 29, were arrested for drug charges following a traffic stop on Route 219 south in the Town of Concord.

An Erie County Sheriff's deputy initiated a traffic stop at 1:30 p.m., after he noticed a vehicle and traffic violation in the car.

Harrigan, the driver, said he had a marijuana pipe in the car. When the deputy searched the vehicle, he also discovered a bag of marijuana in Harrigan's possesion.  Then, when he tried to search Schoonmaker, she refused police commands and tried to walk away. The deputy continued his search and found cocaine, ketamine, and marijuana in Schoonmaker’s possession.

Schoonmaker was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was also charged with misdemeanor counts of obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, and a violation for marijuana possession.

Harrigan was issued an appearance ticket for the marijuana possession and a summons for the vehicle and traffic law violation and released at the scene.

Schoonmaker is at the Erie County Holding Center without bail pending her arraignment. No date for an arraignment was set.
