Tonawanda, NY (WBEN) - Two people escaped a dramatic boat fire on the Niagara River near the Niawanda Park shore.

A father and son were able to get off the boat as the fire developed.  A private craft rescued them from the water.

The boat was completely engulfed in flames when police arrived at the scene. Police say the boat burned right to the water-line.

City of Tonawanda Police, the Erie County Sheriff's Office, and Grand Island Fire Company all responded to the scene.

No one was hurt. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
