BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Niagara International Airport averages around 7,000 passengers per day at the airport, but that number is expected to increase by over ten percent this summer season.

TSA officials are reminding you that they're ready for the increase.

"We're fully staffed," Bart Johnson, TSA Federal Security Director, said. "We have availability of overtime. But the important thing for the traveling public is to be ready. Be ready. Be aware. Be aware that we're concerned about their safety and they should be concerned about their safety."

Johnson reminds you that if you're traveling via plane this summer, make sure you don't bring prohibited items like guns and knives and to cooperate with TSA officials throughout the experience.

TSA anticipates around 243 million passengers between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Johnson reminds travelers to show up to the airport 90 minutes before your scheduled departure, which should give you enough time to get through security checkpoints at the airport.
