Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - We're trading sunglasses for umbrellas across the Western New York region today as waves of rain, heavy at times, are crossing the region.  Periods of downpours are likely in spots.

While the Buffalo metro will see some significant rainfall, indications point toward the heaviest rain spreading across Pennsylvania and southern New York state to the upper mid-Atlantic coast and southern New England throughout the day.

There will be some beneficial soaking rains, but in areas of downpours, some urban street flooding will be a possibility.
