TONAWANDA, NY (WBEN) - The Town of Tonawanda's Police Chief has asked to retire as soon as possible following a tumultuous year inside the department.

Town of Tonawanda Supervisor Joe Emminger said at a town board meeting Monday evening that Chief Jerome Uschold made the request. The Board may approve it at a later date, but did not Monday because of the timing of Uschold's request.

The Town Board previously canceled a raise that Uschold was scheduled to receive. The Request to retire came after two police paramedics and two police officers had been arrested, all since last December.
