Three more deaths in Niagara County from coronavirus

NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. (WBEN) - Three more people have died because of coronavirus in Niagara County, bringing the death toll to four as of Thursday morning.

Niagara County officials released the latest statistics on coronavirus which also included 11 more people who have contracted the disease. There are now 166 people who have coronavirus in Niagara County.

Among the new deaths include:

  • 69 year-old male with underlying health conditions
  • 90 year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • 82 year-old female without underlying health conditions

“We regretfully had three more county residents pass away from COVID-19 since our report yesterday morning,” Niagara County Public Health Director Daniel Stapleton said in a statement.  “All of Niagara County sends our condolences to these families.”

There are 62 people in Niagara County who recovered from coronavirus. However, 19 people are hospitalized.

Niagara County Chairwoman Rebecca Wydysh said 156 people are currently in quarantine. She said she expects the death toll to rise and is encouraging people to follow the NY PAUSE order.

"Please continue to follow those guidelines and do your part in this situation," she said.
