Threat Doesn't Deter Classes at Hamburg High

Hamburg, NY (WBEN) It was business as usual Thursday at Hamburg High School after a threat the previous evening prompted an increased police presence.

The threat was posted on social media. Superintendent Michael Cornell says the student who posted it was identified almost immediately. Parents were notified via robocall. He would not comment on the nature of the threat.

Cornell says 95 percent attendance was reported for classes, which is the norm.

"When it does happen, we don't have the luxury of underreacting," says Cornell. "It's important we take everything seriously and we want to make sure whatever our response is assures the safety of our school."
