AMHERST, N.Y. (WBEN) - A 17-year-old boy suffered serious head and neck injuries after he was hit by a car on Niagara Falls Boulevard on Sunday evening.

The boy was hit in the 2300 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard after 7 p.m. by a 2006 Mitsubishi that was driven by a 23-year-old woman from Tonawanda. Amherst Police said she was driving north on the road.

The boy was taken to ECMC with head and neck injuries.

No charges have been filed against the woman. Amherst Police continue their investigation and ask anyone with information to call 689-1311.

In June, the New York State Department of Transportation announced pedestrian-safety upgrades to the road.
