Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Food by the forkful was being consumed at the 34th annual Taste of Buffalo on Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square.  Buffalo is home to the largest 2-day food festival in the nation.

Over 55 restaurants and food trucks are represented at the Taste.  450-thousand people are expected to visit this weekend.

Weather was ideal. It was very comfortable with temperatures in the mid 70's, sunshine, low humidity and a light breeze.

WBEN's Susan Rose was a Taste of Buffalo judge.  She brought her husband Tim and son Brendan to help with the assignment.

They tasted everything from Watermelon Gazpacho by Savor (at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute) to Tortellini with truffle sauce, Artichoke Francesca, & Sausage Bread from Salvatore's Italian Gardens.  They enjoyed a pepperoni roll and stuffed pepper pizza from T.C. Wheelers in Tonawanda.  For dessert, it was White Rabbit Frozen Yogurt!  "After a couple of hours we were in a food coma!" said Rose.  "We enjoyed some of the best food WNY has to offer".

Celebrity Chef Lidia Bastianich was on the culinary stage near New Era Hat for an hour long cooking demonstration.

The Taste of Buffalo is free to get in, and each food item costs $2 to $5 dollars.

It's open until 9pm Saturday and from 11am-7pm Sunday.

Mayor Byron Brown was a judge at the Taste too!
