BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Tuesday was media day for the Super Sunday High School Club Hockey Championships, which will be held this Friday.

Six teams are competing in this year's tournament at KeyBank Center.

5 p.m.: East Aurora/Holland at Depew (Small school championship)
7 p.m.: St. Joe's Maroon at Orchard Park (Large school championship)
9 p.m. Jamestown at Roy/Hart (Mixed school championship)

"In 1985...I played in Super Sunday over at the old Aud," Buffalo Sabres Vice President of Administration Mike Gilbert said. "It was a great day and I remember it like yesterday. I've been to Super Bowls, Stanley Cups, All-Star Games, the outdoor game ten years ago, the World Junior's a couple weeks ago, but I always remember Super Sunday, one of the greatest thrills of my life and athletics. I hope you guys have the same experience."

Gilbert said it's the culmination of their youth hockey careers and that it's a great opportunity to skate on the same ice as the Buffalo Sabres.

"It's a great time of the year for youth hockey in this area," he added. "This area is a great youth hockey area right up through the high school area."

Club hockey programs are not sponsored through the school while federation hockey leagues are. Federation hockey championships begin on Monday, though only St. Joe's versus St. Mary's/Lancaster is the only game announced.
