PARKLAND, Fla. (WBEN/AP) -- Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida was the site of a school shooting on Wednesday.

The Broward Sheriff's Office confirmed on Twitter late-Wednesday afternoon that said the shooter, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody.

The school's superintendent said that there were multiple fatalities and multiple other people were taken to the hospital with injuries. TV footage showed at least one person being wheeled to an ambulance on a gurney while emergency workers appeared to be helping others on the sidewalk. The news broadcasts also showed students running across the street.

Broward County Sheriff on Twitter said they have "at least 14 victims" and were transported to nearby medical facilities.
