Collins, NY (WBEN) A 7 year old boy is recovering after sheriff's deputies say someone shot into the boy's home in Collins overnight.

Deputies say they got a call just after 12:30am from a home on Main Street in Collins. "There were five occupants, and a complainant reported several gunshots were heard and multiple bullet holes were found in the home," says Chief Scott Joslyn. Joslyn says a 7-year-old boy was sleeping in his bedroom; the bullet struck him in the rear, upper thigh; The boy was taken to Oishei Children's Hospital where his condition was stabilized.

Joslyn says investigators have not developed any motives, but investigators do not believe this is hunting related and do believe this is an intentional act; The intended target is not known.

Detectives have been canvassing the area and talking with neighbors; They believe the bullet holes are from a small-caliber round.
