Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - I've walked through the doors of Roswell Park many times through the years.  Some of my visits were to interview some of the medical stars that make Roswell Park what it is.  And some of the visits have been to visit someone ailing from cancer.

My visit Thursday was special and I needed to go no further than the lobby.

Many of us may not have noticed "the bell" off to the side of the lobby inside Roswell Park.  It hangs on the wall behind the reception desk and awaits being rung by gleeful cancer patients signifying the successful end of their battle.

WBEN's Sandy Beach has been a longtime friend of Roswell Park, and his most recent experience with the comprehensive cancer center was as a patient.

Sandy successfully completed treatement for prostate cancer, is cancer free, and proudly rang that bell Thursday with Roswell President and CEO Candace Johnson, PhD by his side.

It was a special moment that we can all only hope is something more cancer patients can repeat as Roswell Park continues to diagnose, treat and research cancer.
