WILLIAMSVILLE (WBEN) - On Monday morning, dozens gathered at the Russell J. Salvatore Patriots & Heroes on Transit Road for the "Jump in on PTSD" Veterans Day ceremony and fundraiser.

"We built this park on extremely valuable Transit Road acreage to honor America's fallen patriots and heroes," said Salvatore. "We want all veterans and citizens to feel at home in this park as they relax and reflect in a tranquil setting. The Veterans Day event is exactly the purpose for which this park was built."

The keynote speaker for this year's event was retired Command Chief Warrant Officer John Wester who, during his service with the Marine Corps and Army, participated in the evacuation of Cambodia and Vietnam.

"Veterans Day is always a special day for me - it's one of the few holidays that I really celebrate," he said. "I served with thousands of patriots - honorable people who were willing to sacrifice everything to make sure that our country remain free.
