Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The much-anticipated project at 201 Ellicott Street near the Central Library in downtown Buffalo is one more step closer to getting underway.

Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation announced Monday the completion of the sale of 201 Ellicott at a purchase price of $2,325,000.

"What this purchase does, it gives actual site control to Ciminelli Real Estate," said Project Spokesman Matt Davison. "The Development team now owns the parcel so they can get active in site preparation and also move in to construction later this year."

201 Ellicott Street will feature a Braymiller Market grocery store and 201 affordable apartments in a unit just to the south of the planned market at the corner of Ellicott and Clinton in Downtown Buffalo. After originally proposing a development that had hundreds of parking opportunities, there is only 29 parking spots in the new development which is dedicated to Braymiller Market. Despite the concerns over parking, the city says the project will move forward.

First though, the current tenants of the surface parking lot will need time to find a different spot.

"There's a number of advisements and steps still to go," Davison said. "Site preparation will be ongoing, so there will be a little activity on the site."
