Columbus, OH (WBEN) - The Buffalo Sabres could not find their mojo in Columbus, and after a flurry of goals by the Blue Jackets in the second, were doomed to lose the game.

With a goal from the first, the Blue Jackets took over the scoreboard in the second, all but assuring the Sabres eventual loss.  The Sabres scored late in the third once thanks to Seth Griffith, but were listless otherwise.

The final score Columbus 5, the Sabres 1.

Chad Johnson faced 38 shots.  The Sabres got 35 on net.

Ryan O'Reilly said the three goals against in the second put the Sabres in bad place mentally. "We have to be mentally tougher and find a way to get back to our game plan," O'Reilly said.

There only three penalties all game, so those were really not a factor in the loss.

The Sabres play the San Jose Sharks Saturday afternoon.
