The Sabres' Robin Lehner to Honor Craig Lehner at Friday's game

The Fallen Officer's birthday also being observed

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner will honor fallen Buffalo Police Officer Craig Lehner at Friday's game against the Florida Panthers.  Goalie Lehner will wear a customized warm-up jersey with the nameplate "C. Lehner".  The jersey will be number 43, instead of Lehner's usual number 40, in honor of the officer's radio call sign "K 9  43".

Lehner said he tried to wear the jersey for the game. "We tried to do that but it's tough. It's the best we could do".

The Sabres will present the jersey after the game to members of Officer Lehner's family.

The Sabres are observing "Military Appreciation Night".

Friday, November 10th would have been the fallen Police Officer's 35th birthday.  To honor him, the dome at Buffalo City Hall will be lit in blue.  And in the city of Buffalo, Government channel 22, will air a 20 minute tribute in memory of Officer Lehner Friday and Saturday at 10am, 12 noon, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm & 9pm over the Veteran's Day weekend.
