New York, NY (WBEN) - The Buffalo Sabres enjoyed their CBA-mandated five day break this week, only to lose to the New York Rangers 4-3 at Madison Square Garden.

The Sabres did get 37 shots on Henrik Lundqvist, but the Sabres' Robin Lehner couldn't hang on in goal.  He saw 34 shots.

The game was tit-for-tat through the second, with Buffalo, and then the Rangers, scoring in each period.

Rasmus Ristolainen tied the game a minute after the Rangers took the lead four minutes into the third.  Rick Nash got the game winner after that.

The second period got a little feisty with six penalties called between the teams.

The Sabres have an afternoon game at KeyBank Center Saturday against the Stars. The puck drops at 1 p.m.
