BUFFALO (WBEN - Brendan Keany) - The Resurgence Brewing Company has opened its massive expansion on Chicago Street.

The 30,000 square foot facility is nearly three times the size of their Niagara Street location.

"We needed to right-size our ship," said Resurgence President Jeff Ware. "We're just so undersized at our current facility that we just couldn't make enough beer to meet demand, so this space should give us the opportunity to meet demand in Buffalo and have a little bit extra to expand our footprint and stretch our legs a little bit as well."

With the added space, the brewery was also able to accommodate suggestions from their customers and utilize the space as efficiently as possible.

"I think the biggest things you're going to notice when you come in here, not only is it a completely different feel than the other Niagara Street location, but we have a full kitchen here, sit-down dining, so you can sit down and have a full meal with a server, or you can just sit at the bar and order from the bar," he began. "We have a 300-person banquet facility and mezzanine that overlooks the entire brewing facility."

Ware also discussed their location in the Old First Ward and how he's excited to be a part of its 'resurgence.'

"We were looking at this specific building, and it was more than just this great old building that we could rehab, but there's so much going on in this neighborhood already," he said. "There's so many things going on - you have the river, the waterfront, the Sabres, all of these other restaurants that have opened up around us as well - so we're just one cog in a bigger wheel of a neighborhood that is really already revitalizing, so it's really exciting to be a part of something that's already churning and moving forward."

While the brewery is open for customers now, the official grand opening will take place on July 11.
