Amherst, NY (WBEN) If you've driven down Maple Road between Hopkins and North Forest over the years, your ride has probably been bumpier than you'd like. Monday, Erie County crews will repave that stretch in the hopes of smoothing things over.

"We're going to remedy that problem, starting on the south half of the road, the eastbound section, and we'll have traffic control to get ready for Monday morning," says Charlie Sickler, Erie County's deputy commissioner of highways. "We're going to mill off the asphalt road surface between North Forest and Hopkins, then open and repair the concrete joints, then pave over the top of those joints."

Sickler says the project should take three to four weeks, weather permitting.

He says traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. He says if you can find an alternate route during the morning and afternoon rush hours, that's preferred. If you can't, expect to wait a few extra minutes.
