Buffalo, N.Y. - (WBEN) (Photo courtesy @GeorgeRichert @WIVB) - An update on a mystery in Buffalo. As police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a 3 year old boy found on a porch on Monday, relatives of the child arrived from Florida Tuesday.

They met the woman on Potomac Ave who cared for the boy who was discovered sleeping in a cardboard box.  The toddler is in the custody of Child Protective Services as the investigation into the whereabouts of his parents continues.

Zenaida Colon, the grandmother of the boy, says her grandson's name is Noelvin. She fears the worst; that her son, his girlfriend and another friend may have been in a car that burned in Black Rock.

Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo said it will take time to know if that's the case.  For now, police are calling it a missing persons case.

The child's parents are 24 year old Nicole Merced Plaud, 31 year old Miguel Anthony Valentin-Colon, and a family friend, 29 year old Dhamyl Mirella Roman-Audiffred, all of the Orlando, Florida area. Anyone with information is asked to call Buffalo Homicide Detectives at (716) 851-4466 or the Confidential TIPCALL Line at (716) 847-2255

Colon said she is in the process of gaining custody of the boy.  A hearing is set for October 9th.
