ELMA, N.Y. (WBEN) - A new pistol permit satellite office opened in the Town of Elma.

"We have been inundated with the recertification process," Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns said. "We're working very very hard to make sure people are in compliance with the law. The provision of the (NY SAFE Act) states automatic revocation. So if I can urge you please, if you haven't yet, please continue the process of recertification."

The satellite office will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays only. The office allows the gun owners to add and remove a gun, change of address, and help with general pistol permit questions.

The Elma office is the first one to open since the Cheektowaga satellite office closed last August because of staffing issues. Kearns expressed his desire to reopen that office later this year.

The Elma Town Hall is located at 1600 Bowen Road.
