Pediatric Dentist Charged with Sexual Abuse

Charged with unwanted sexual contact with person younger than 17

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) State Police have arrested a pediatric dentist, charging him with Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child for conduct that is to alleged to have occurred between 2008 and December 2018, involving a minor.

Dr. Louis Surace, 57, was arraigned by Lockport Town Justice Honorable Cheryl A. Antkowiak and held on $20,000/$40,000 bail.
State Police say they began their investigation after receiving a tip from Child Protective Services on January 2, 2019 regarding unwanted sexual contact with a child under the age seventeen.  According to authorities, there is no evidence of additional victims at this time.  Anyone with concerns should call the New York State Police at (585) 344-6200.
“Niagara County has a coordinated response to child abuse allegations.  A specially trained team, as well as a forensic interviewer, investigate complaints made to law enforcement and/or Child Protective Services.  Support services are provided to the child and supportive family members through the Child Advocacy Center,” explained Niagara County District Attorney Caroline Wojtaszek. He is currently on staff at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and Eastern Niagara Hospital.
