BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – No one can deny the passion Western New York has for the Erie County Fair. With thousands of visitors each year, the Erie County Fair has long established itself as the “go-to” summer event.

But for the “ultimate fairgoer”, the Erie County Fair is a passion. Dawn Pietras was nominated as the ultimate fairgoer and was named by her peers as the ultimate fairgoer.

Part of the reason why was because she inked it on her arm. Her tattoo reads “The Best 12 Days of Summer”.

“I wanted people to know how much I really love this place,” she said. “This has been a big part of my life for a very long time. I used to buy 12-day passes but then someone said ‘Why don’t you just volunteer so you can get in for free?’. So I do. I volunteer.”

She volunteers for ten of the twelve days at the fair, even though most volunteers are asked to do less than half what she does.

Pietras was one of the thousands of Western New Yorkers who went to the opening day of the Erie County Fair on Wednesday. See a schedule of events for Friday by clicking here.
