Overdose Death Leads to Arrest of Two Dealers

Five-time convicted felon and U.S. Marshal Fugitive arrested

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - An investigation into an overdose death led to the arrest of two dealers on Tuesday in a drug raid.

Lamel Williams, 38, and his sister Latisha Williams, 37, were arrested after the Buffalo Police Department executive a search warrant at a Potomac Avenue residence in Buffalo. During the raid, authorities uncovered a large quantity of crack cocaine and approximately $18,000 plus a stolen handgun. 

The elder Williams is a five-time convicted felon and was charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, and criminal possession of a stolen firearm. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

Latisha Williams is a U.S. Marshal Fugitive and was charged with five separate felony counts including tampering with evidence, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, criminal possession of a loaded firearm, and criminal possession of a stolen firearm. She was also charged with various misdemeanor counts which include obstruction of governmental administration, marijuana possession, use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance. Because she's a federal fugitive, she was turned over to the U.S. Marshal's Service. 

Both were remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.
