Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Noting that just a few years ago there would be no reason to be standing along what is now known as Wilkeson Pointe, Outer Harbor Management Group President John Dandes pulled the wraps off a summer full of entertainment and recrational activities available along Buffalo's blossoming Outer Harbor.

The Italian and Irish Festivals are among the two larger events to be located along the Outer Harbor but a host of recreational activities for all ages and skill levels is planned as well.

"The Outer Harbor is growing in popularity because it offers the perfect combination of things to do and places to get away from it all," said ECHDC Chairman Robert Gioia. "Fireworks to light the sky, exercise to make your heart race, activities for all the age groups and food for every appetite- it's all on the menu this summer at the Outer Harbor."

"Our mission is to provide family friendly events, entertainment and food and beverage options to all those who explore the Outer Harbor throughout the summer months,” said Dandes.  “Our team has put together a variety of fun and unique events and daily programming that will keep visitors coming back to the Outer Harbor”, Dandes continued.

"Our waterfront continues to transform into a destination for all ages, and this summer's lineup at the Outer Harbor is full of exciting opportunities for Western New Yorkers looking to take advantage of the outdoors," said Senator Tim Kennedy. "Thank you to Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation and the Outer Harbor Management Group for organizing these activities and planning a summer of possibilities."

This summer offers something to do every day of the summer including these favorite activities:

  • Kayaking and paddle boarding with Longboards Paddle Co.
  • Biking on the Surrey Bike and trike bikes for kids
  • New fitness classes from the YMCA thanks to Independent Health
  • Giant checkers and spike ball are just some of the fun new games to play in the Beer Garden

Information on all fitness and equipment rentals can also be found on the site or on Outer Harbor’s social media accounts, www.facebook.com/OuterHarborBuffalo or @OuterHarborBFLO on Twitter and Instagram.
