Buffalo, NY (WBEN) After being in New York City in recent years, Buffalo will host the state pinball championship for the first time.

"Buffalo is a big city, and I feel okay with people flying up there, compared to other cities," says Francesco LaRocca, one of the organizers of the event. "The guys running it in Buffalo are running leagues, and tournaments and now they have more players than leagues in New York City."

Kevin Manne says Buffalo has earned the right to host the event. "We've been running tournaments, team and women's leagues, so we've built our reputation to the point where we can host the state final," says Manne.

Manne says the top 16 players from the past year based on tournament points will vie for the title. "We go head to head in a bracket style format. The player remaining is the state champion and will be invited to play for the national title in Vegas," says Manne. "You'll see the top level pinball play. It'll be a great time, the great thing about pinball is we all go head to head, we all have a good time. The most enjoyable side is interacting with others and hanging out."

Manne says the Buffalo Pinball League started in 2013, and has grown to 60 players, and is part of the Stern Pro Circuit, hosting a tournament in the summer. 135 players competed in that event. He says you can see pinball games at breweries and other hot spots in the city.

The event is at Game On LAN starting at 11am. If you can't make it in person, you can stream the action here.
