NEW YORK (WBEN) - On Thursday morning, Governor Andrew Cuomo's office released the newest mandates, declaring golf courses to be nonessential places of business through at least April 29, meaning they're closed until then.

"We're sad," began Brierwood Country Club General Manager Spencer Murray. "We're just going to continue to do our due diligence to find out what that communication entails to the fullest extent, and we'll just try to remain positive that hopefully this thing is over soon."

While Murray is upset by the news, and even says golfers were doing a good job of maintaining social distancing, he understands the reasoning behind the mandate.

"The more people can do to make this all end soon, that's what we should do," he said. "If that's what the state thinks we should do, then that's what we'll do."
