BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Niagara International Airport on Tuesday unveiled two NEXUS kiosks, which will allow for expedited travel when visiting Canada.

NEXUS is most commonly used at the international bridges as a way for travelers to be pre-checked but its use at airports also acts as a TSA pre-check.

“It’s much more affordable than doing any of the individual programs,” NFTA Aviation Director Bill Vanecek said. “It’s only $50 to sign up for a five-year NEXUS card which gives you global entry, pre check, and it gets you NEXUS to help you with your travel through Canada, United States, and the world.”

About 50,000 people currently have a NEXUS card.

The kiosks at the airport will feature a step-by-step application to receive a NEXUS card. However, you will still need to be interviewed by customs officers at a later date. Vanecek said the application could take up to two months to complete.
