Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A quick shot of Arctic air will have your teeth shattering and your furnace working overtime in early March!  Saturday's high temperature won't make it far out of the teens before making a milder March recovery Sunday.

We're not alone either.  This frigid blast of cold air is impacting much of the northeastern United States.  temperatures may struggle to reach the freezing mark in New York City. As far south as Washington, D.C., temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average on Saturday.

"The arctic air will deliver one of the coldest days of the winter for portions of upstate New York and New England on Saturday," according to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.

After bottoming out Sunday morning, temperatures will begin to trend upward on Sunday.  Forecasters also have their eyes on a round of severe weather that could impact parts of the northeast next week.
