The Bills got back to work on the practice field Wednesday preparing to face the first place New England Patriots Sunday in Orchard Park.

But, as usual for a Wednesday, several players were either limited or did not practice at all for various reasons.  Head coach Rex Ryan told the media before the session what players were expected to be on those lists.  They included:

Did Not Practice

LB Lorenzo Alexander (rest day)

LB Zach Brown (illness)

DT Adolphus Washington (illness)

DL Corbin Bryant (shoulder)

TE Charles Clay (ankle)

OT Cordy Glenn (ankle)

LB Lerentee McCray (knee)

RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring)

WR Marquise Goodwin (concussion protocol)

S Aaron Williams (neck)

DT Marcell Dareus (hamstring)

WR Robert Woods (foot)

RB Mike Gillislee (foot)

OT Seantrel Henderson (back)

LB Jerry Hughes (hand)

OG John Miller (shoulder)

Ryan said McCoy “we’ll continue to get treatment” on his hamstring and “we’ll see how he progresses through the week.”  He also said the medical staff “continues to monitor” the status of Williams’ neck after the vicious hit he took from Dolphins wideout Jarvis Landry last weekend, confirming the safety “is at risk” of not playing Sunday.

As far as Dareus, who has yet to play this season, Ryan said, “I hope he’s ready to play Sunday.  We’ve gone the whole year and he hasn’t played a snap yet.  So we’re hoping that he’s out there.  Obviously he’s one of the best players at his position in the league, so yeah, it would be a big, big boost for us if he’s ready to play.”

Ryan was also asked to give an update on wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who is on injured reserve and eligible to return after week eleven.  "Sammy Watkins is out of the boot. So that's a positive,” the head coach said.

The team was already wearing the throwback red standing buffalo on their helmets, which will be worn for Sunday’s game.
