Man who rammed car into Bottoms Up faces new charges

Najeeb Jackson now has two counts of attempted murder against him

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The man who allegedly rammed his car into Bottoms Up on Chippewa Street this summer is now facing attempted murder charges.

Najeeb Jackson is accused of driving his car into the club in Downtown Buffalo was arraigned on Friday morning for two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assaults after previously being charged with reckless endangerment and assault.

Two people inside the bar were injured when the car went into the building early in the morning on August 4. None of the injuries were serious.

Charges were dropped against the bouncer who was hit by the car. The bouncer legally owned a pistol and fired three shots into the front of the car.

"After (the bouncer) got up, he pointed the gun at the defendant to get him out of the car," District Attorney John Flynn said. "He did not continue shooting. His three shots into the car were appropriate, defensive shots that he had a legal justification right to do."

There was an altercation before Jackson left the bar.

Jackson will return to court next month. His tentative trial date is scheduled for April 20.
