BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York State Senator Tim Kennedy has secured 90,000 dollars in state funding that will be used for improvements on Cazenovia Park in South Buffalo.

The money will be used for enhancing the entrance on Abbott Road and repaving walkways for pedestrians and bikers.

"As someone who is raising my family in South Buffalo, I know firsthand how overdue these improvements are," Senator Kennedy said. "They'll be a welcome sign for those who visit Cazenovia Park often."

Mayor Byron Brown sees this as great step for one of the city's historic parks.

"Cazenovia is one of the crown jewels of our world class internationally recognized olmsted park system," Mayor Brown said "This is important news and an important investment that will only make this park and the park system better."

Construction is expected to begin and end in the fall.
