Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A local couple is taking its shot at television fame. Their recent pilot was picked up by HGTV.

They were inspired by the stars of another show on that network. "Three years ago my wife and I were at a convention in Las Vegas and we saw Tarak and Christina (El Moussa) of 'Flip or Flop' and they got on the stage and I remember looking at my wife saying if we're ever going to get on that stage, we have to have our own TV show," says Chris Naugle. He and his wife Lorissa soon hired a film crew and paid for production costs for a show called "Flip Out," now titled "Risky Builders."

The show works like this: "It's my wife, myself and my ex-snowboarding friend Blair Rusin, and we go in and Blair and Lorissa get the vision for what the house will look like, and I find and fund the deal, and they design the house, and it's this crazy show about how this house comes to be," explains Naugle.

Naugle says HGTV executives reviewed the pilots during greenlight period. His producer called and let them know the show was most talked about and could be bigger than "Flip or Flop." A pilot was scheduled for this past Sunday. Just one thing: it was up against the Winter Olympics and the Daytona 500. "It felt like taking the balloon and popping it with a pin but it's about getting ratings so we can get a series," explains Naugle. When will it air? Naugle hasn't received word. "It's part of their strategy. They know when it's time to air. They'll put it after 'Fixer Upper' and it's a matter of who watches the show.'

Naugle says when he gets word, he'll let everyone know, and urges people to watch the show prior to "Risky Builders," because that's how ratings are determined.
