Line Cook Charged with Stabbing Owner of Cole's Restaurant

Faces up to 7 years in prison

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A line cook at a Buffalo restaurant was arraigned on assault charges after he stabbed the owner of Cole's Restaurant over the weekend.

29-year-old John R. Luper III allegedly attacked the owner of Cole's Restaurant on Elmwood Avenue with a chef knife while working in the kitchen.  The two were arguing Sunday  when Luper was said to have stabbed the owner once in the torso.

The victim was taken to ECMC where he was treated for the injury. Bail was set at $5,000 by Buffalo City Court Judge James McLeod, and Luper will return for a felony hearing on Thursday. If convicted, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
