Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR550-Sal Cappaccio) - Sean McDermott didn’t confirm nor deny any LeSean McCoy trade conversation reports on Wednesday, but the Buffalo Bills head coach didn’t exactly shy away from addressing them, either.

McDermott opened his weekly press conference by addressing the report that surfaced Tuesday from WIVB Sports Director Josh Reed that the Philadelphia Eagles had reached out to the Bills to gauge interest in trading their star running back back to the organization where he spent the first six years of his NFL career.

“Just to get out in front of this LeSean thing a little bit the best I can…..LeSean is one of our better players. Thought he had a good game the other day and, really, we’re just looking forward to playing the Houston Texans. We get calls all the time. Incoming calls happen all the time. Brandon [Beane> and I talk a lot, and I won’t go into any more detail than that.”

The Bills and Eagles are both 2-3 this season. Philadelphia starting running back Jay Ajayi suffered a season-ending knee injury last weekend and the Super Bowl champions might be in the market for another back to replace him. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, October 30 at 4 p.m. eastern, less than three weeks away.

When asked if incoming calls become more frequent as the trade deadline gets close, McDermott said, “Yeah, it does. I’m not the one fielding most of those calls. That falls under Brandon’s job description, if you will. So I would just imagine they do, it’s just kind of logical sense.”

McDermott was asked directly if the Eagles had called and if McCoy is “available” via trade. He told reporters he wasn’t going to get into any details in both responses.

“Guys, that is why I came out and started where I started. If you just want to hear the same reply I’ll give you the same reply. So, I respect where you coming from and the jobs you have to do, respect where I’m coming from. He’s a valuable member of our football team, and I’m going to leave it at that.”
