An intriguing study done by Lending Tree revealed Buffalo to possess the most favorable conditions for new beginnings among the 50 largest metro areas in the United States. The study analyzed various aspects of financial recovery, as well as opportunities for people aged 35 and over.

The specific criteria was only studied among those between the ages of 35 and 64, and included variables such as the unemployment rate, the percentage of the population with health insurance, those enrolled in school, median income, median rent and average credit score three years after filing for bankruptcy.

Coming in first by a fairly substantial margin, Lending Tree noted that Buffalo has several solid factors going for it including the lowest median rent, the second highest percentage of adults with health insurance and the second highest average credit score among adults three years after filing for bankruptcy.

Median income (7th worst) as well as percentage of adult students (2nd worst) were viewed as the lone knocks against the city.

Minneapolis and Salt Lake City are neck and neck for 2nd and 3rd place, while Miami, Riverside and Birmingham are recognized as the bottom three cities.
