Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) -  What happened to Summer?  Friday marks the last big Canalside concert of the season.

It's mid-August, but the transition to Fall and Winter is already beginning.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Lowest of the Low take the stage Friday.  It's the 10th ticketed concert and caps a season that started June 7th with Method Man and Redman.

"Tonight will probably be our biggest show of the year, based on ticket sales" said Matt MaSota, General Manager of Canalside Management Group.   Weather could be a factor but the show goes on rain or shine.  "We've had great weather this year, every show.  Maybe it's fitting that we get one day where we have to worry.  But we will be ready to go" LaSota said.

This is transition time for Canalside.  Over the next few weeks there are a few more events and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Fitness program, but LaSota says they are already planning Fall and Winter events.  "We have it all laid out.  The mentality shifts into Fall and Winter.  We already know when we're going to start building the ice rink".

Is it a little early to put the brakes on Summer?  Why not extend the concert season at least until Labor Day?  "We base it off past years" LaSota said.  "Concerts start to die down after this week.   You see it at the ballpark and other places too.  Everyone seems to need a little break, especially with school starting in about two weeks".
